History Resources
The Lye and Wollescote Cemetery has remained largely unchanged since its creation in 1879. Buried there are many local pioneers of industry, religious leaders, public figures and ordinary working people. It is a wonderful resource for the study of local history and as a starting point for looking at the changes that have taken place in the area over the centuries.
In this section are a selection of stories of the lives of people that have shaped the area on a local, national or even global scale. We hope they prove useful and illuminating to your study of the past. They are grouped as Citizens of Lye and World War One soldiers.
